NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (R) and President of Council of States of Switzerland Ivo Bischofberger (Source: VNA) During his stay, Ivo Bischofberger held talks with NA Chairwoman Ngan and paid acourtesy visit to President Tran Dai Quang. He also had working sessions withrepresentatives from Vietnam’s Ministries of Industry and Trade, and Education.
The two sides expressed their joy at the flourishing bilateral relations,especially in politics-diplomacy, trade-investment, and developmentcooperation.
They wished to maintain exchange of all-level visits and cooperation atmultilateral parliamentary forums and organidations, order to further promoteunderstanding and political trust, thus deepening the bilateral ties.
They also pledged to continue encouraging their enterprises to invest in eachother’s markets.
Thetwo sides agreed on a closer link in education and training, especiallyvocational training with connection with Swiss enterprises investing inVietnam.
The Swiss side was suggested support Vietnam in building a high-qualityeducation system and boosting sci-tech research and training in universities and research centres.
Switzerlandwill hold vocational training courses for Vietnam and increase the number ofscholarships to Vietnamese students to pursue study in the majors of law,banking, high technology, and tourism, which are strengthsof the European country.
Affirmingparliamentary cooperation is one of the effective collaboration channelsbetween Vietnam and Switzerland, the two sides agreed that they will increase delegationexchanges to share experience in parliamentary activities, laying a foundationfor developing more intensive and effective relations between the two countriesacross fields.
On this occasion, Ivo Bischofberger paid tribute tolate President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.-VNA
