President Truong Tan Sang spoke highly of the contributions made by Nigerian Ambassador to Vietnam Mazi Okafor Matthias Ojih to enhancing bilateral relations between two countries during his tenure in Vietnam.

Receiving the outgoing diplomat in Hanoi on August 28, the host said that two countries’ bilateral relations have seen stellar growth in the past few years but there is great untapped potential cooperation for the two sides.

President Sang said that two countries need to enhance high-ranking delegation exchanges and establish an inter-government committee to accelerate cooperation programmes.

He hoped that in his new position, the ambassador will make utmost efforts to lift up relations between two countries.

The Nigerian Ambassador spoke highly of Vietnamese goods with high competitiveness in price and quality, believing that made-in- Vietnam products including cashew, footwear, garments and technology products will see increasing export to Nigeria in the coming time.

He called on Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Nigeria where they will have chances to enlarge their markets to Western African countries, suggesting that Vietnamese businesses can grow and process cashew nuts in Nigeria for exports.

Regarding education cooperation, the ambassador said that some 200 Nigerian students are studying in Hanoi University of Technology, FPT University and Vietnam Maritime University.-VNA
