State President Nguyen Minh Triet has called on Royal Dutch Shell Plc, the Anglo-Dutch energy and petrochemical group, to contribute more to Vietnam ’s socio-economic development and expand its operations into new areas such as electricity and infrastructure.
At a meeting in Hanoi on January 20 with Simon Henry, Shell Group’s Chief Financial Officer, who is currently visiting Vietnam , President Triet stressed that the achievements Vietnam has recorded over the past years were partially thanks to the cooperation and support from foreign partners.
The freshly-ended 11 th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam continued confirmed the country’s new policies to enhance and expand cooperation with countries overseas, said the President.
Simon Henry extended his congratulations to the success of the congress, saying that the Shell Group hoped to contribute more to the country’s renewal process.
According to the Shell Group officer, integration is helping Vietnam to become an attractive destination for foreign investors and has opened up potential for developing the country in the future while raising the country’s demands for energy.
The group is focusing its business strategy on oil exploitation and the export and distribution of liquefied gas for Vietnam from other countries in the region, he said.
Shell Group will engage in equitisation process of petrol distribution and work with Vietnam’s oil and gas groups in oil exploration and exploitation, he said./.
