President Truong Tan Sang on July 29 visited Naryan-mar, the capital city of the Nenetskiy Autonomous Region, which boasts its strengths in energy resources, forestry and fishery.
In Naaryan-mar, where nearly 20,000 Russians live, President Sang attended a ceremony celebrating the first oil streams from Khosedayusskoye, an oil field operated by the Rusvietpetro joint venture.
He also joined a ceremony to present the Labour Order to the joint venture’s units and individuals with outstanding achievements.
Since it was set up nearly two years ago, Rusvietpetro has exploited more than 1.5 million tonnes of oil per year, setting a new record in oil and gas exploration and production in the northern pole of Russia .
On the same day, the Vietnamese President met with Nenetskiy Governor I.G. Fedorov, who affirmed that the oil field is not only the result of business cooperation but also the tradition of friendly relations between the two countries.
The governor suggested that relevant agencies in Vietnam do more research into Nenetskiy’s potential advantages for trade and investment.
Sang lauded the cooperation among Vietnamese localities and the Nenetskiy Autonomous Region, saying that this plays an important role in strengthening the Vietnam-Russia relations, as built by the two countries’ leaders and peoples for decades.
He expressed gratitude to Nenetskiy and its leadership for assisting Vietnamese enterprises to do business in the region.
He said he wishes that the Vietnamese and Russian localities will increase the exchange of delegations and have effective coordination plans to implement socio-economic programmes, thus deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership agreed by the two sides’ leaders.-VNA
