An Giang (VNA) – An Giang should bringinto full play its advantages in high-tech agriculture and tourism to moveahead, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc told incumbent and former leaders of the Mekong Delta province onJanuary 18 as part of his working trip to the locality on the occasion of the Lunar New Year festival.

Hailing contributions by various generations of officials to the development of An Giang and the country over the past time, the President praised An Giang for its efforts toovercome difficulties to achieve growth and State budget collection targets.  

He said the inauguration of Asia's largest rice factory in AnGiang and the construction of a road linking NationalHighway 91 and the bypass of Long Xuyen city will bethe driving force for local socio-economic development.

The same day, the President attended the inaugurationceremony of the Hanh Phuc rice factory located in Tri Ton district, with a daily capacity of 1,000 tonnes of processed rice, the biggest in Asia.

In his remarks, Phuc said the factory plays animportant role as it helps to create new added values for the domestic ricesector.

He said An Giang should continue to form large-scalerice fields, promote production chains, and encourage startups in agricultureto raise productivity, production value and income for farmers./.
