President Truong Tan Sang has made it clear that Vietnam stands ready to be the bridge for enhancing relations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Austria, Armenia, Sudan and Congo.

Receiving newly-appointed Ambassadors of Austria, Armenia, Sudan and Congo to Vietnam in Hanoi on August 27, President Sang pledged all possible support for the ambassadors to fulfill their assigned tasks.

Time-honoured ties between Vietnam and the above-mentioned countries will be the firm foundation for them to boost trade and investment cooperation, he said.

The president spoke highly of the outcomes of the agricultural cooperation among Vietnam, Sudan and Congo using the tripartite model under a programme of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), adding that Vietnam is willing to work with other countries in this field.

He expressed his hope that the aforementioned countries will back Vietnam at regional and global forums.
The Ambassadors of Austria, Armenia, Sudan and Congo conveyed their Presidents’ invitation to Sang to visit the countries to bring bilateral ties to a new height.

The Sudanese Ambassador, Sayed Eltayeb Ahmad informed that a delegation of Sudanese firms will visit Vietnam to attend a forum on African regional investment cooperation later this year.

The Ambassador of Congo, Owassa Daniel, meanwhile, said his country needs support of foreign nations, including Vietnam, adding that its freshly-established industrial zones are looking forward to welcoming Vietnamese investors.-VNA
