Press contest on Party building attracts over 1,800 entries

The third Bua Liem Vang (Golden Hammer & Sickle) Press Awards 2018 has received 1,825 entries since it was announced on February 3 this year on the occasion of the 88th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) – The third Bua Liem Vang (Golden Hammer & Sickle) PressAwards 2018 has received 1,825 entries since it was announced on February 3this year on the occasion of the 88th founding anniversary of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Thenumber of entries was announced at a working session on December 6 of the steeringboard and the organising board of the contest, which focuses on Party buildingwork.

Theentries comprise 950 articles published on print newspapers, 286 articles onelectronic newspapers, 398 TV programmes, 163 radio programmes and 28 pressphoto works.

Speakingat the meeting, Politburo member and head of the CPV Central Committee’sOrganisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh underlined the significance of theAwards, which aims torecognise outstanding works in disseminating information and promotingunderstanding about the Party’s policies and Party building work.

He requestedthe Organisation Commission to coordinate closely with the awards’ organisingboard in preparing for the award presentation ceremony slated for January 25, 2019 inHanoi. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the national television.-VNA

Memorial, reburial service held for 80 martyrs repatriated from Laos

Over the past four decades, the special task forces of the Vietnamese and Lao governments, together with Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence, Military Region 4 Command and Nghe An province, have closely coordinated with Lao localities to search for and repatriate 12,897 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos.

According to the new master plan, Hanoi's study area spans all 126 wards and communes within Hanoi’s administrative boundary, covering roughly 3,359.84 sq.km.
