Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese delegation on April 19 arrived in Tokyo, Japan to attend the 4 th Mekong-Japan Summit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko.

Chaired by the Japanese Prime Minister, the summit will take place from April 20-21.

The event will discuss future cooperation orientations between countries in the Mekong region and Japan , in order to promote Mekong-Japan cooperation for prosperity, stability and sustainable development in the Mekong region and Asia in general.

The Vietnamese delegation’s participation at the event aims to strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and countries in the Mekong sub-region as well as further foster its strategic partnership with Japan and promote the implementation of agreements signed by the two Governments.

At the summit, Prime Minister Dung will deliver a speech on orientations for cooperation between Mekong countries and Japan in the future and talk about Vietnam ’s priorities in the Mekong-Japan cooperative framework, including the management and sustainable utilisation of Mekong river water.

Dung will also hold talks with his counterpart Noda Yoshihiko and meet with representatives from a number of Japanese organisations and enterprises.-VNA
