Prime Minister directs resolution of mine incident in Quang Ninh

A dispatch from the Prime Minister was signed and issued on May 14, directing the resolution of a mine incident at the Quang Hanh - TKV coal company, a subsidiary of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) in Cam Pha city, the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh.

Hanoi (VNA) – A dispatch from the Prime Minister was signed and issued on May 14, directing the resolution of a mine incident at the Quang Hanh - TKV coal company, a subsidiary of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) in Cam Pha city, the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh.

According to information from the provincial People's Committee, at approximately 3 PM on May 13, a serious incident occurred at one of Vinacomin's mines, resulting in the death of three workers and injuring one.

To promptly address the aftermath and prevent similar incidents, the PM, in the dispatch, asked the Quang Ninh authorities to direct relevant forces to urgently clarify the cause, remedy the consequences, stabilise production, and strictly handle any violations according to legal regulations. The province should also enhance inspection and supervision to promptly detect and address violations of labour safety regulations in production and business activities, especially coal mining operations, to prevent the occurrence of similar incidents.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises should direct Vinacomin to thoroughly review regulations and safety protocols for underground coal mining, promptly address any shortcomings, and ensure absolute safety for workers.

The chairman of Vinacomin, meanwhile, has been tasked to urgently address the aftermath of the incident, provide timely material and spiritual assistance to the families of the affected workers, and fully implement the policies for the victims as per regulations./.
