Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on October 16 met voters in Vinh Bao district, the northern port city of Hai Phong to listen to their opinions on the threshold of the sixth session of the 13th National Assembly.

Local voters asked that the government continue taking good care of individuals and families who have rendered services to the revolution, as well as poor and vulnerable groups in the locality.

They called for direct support for farmers, particularly in seeking markets for agricultural products, and more investment on rural infrastructure building.

On behalf of the delegation of NA deputies of Hai Phong, PM Dung took note of voters’ opinions. He affirmed that the Party and State pay great attention to agricultural and rural development. He pledged that the Government will continue allocating appropriate resources to boost the sustainable development of agriculture sector.

The PM made clear that the programme of building new-style rural areas is part of the industrialisation and modernisation of agriculture sector as well as rural areas, aiming to improve living conditions for rural residents.

Therefore, the government will continue to increase investment in the programme while adjusting criteria of new-style rural areas to match reality, he said.

The government leader also requested Hai Phong city to make greater efforts in implementing the programme.

The PM confirmed that the government will assist major infrastructure projects in the city, especially those in transportation and irrigation.-VNA
