Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Brunei capital Bandar Seri Begawan on October 8 evening, starting his participation in the 23rd ASEAN summit and related summits from October 8-10.

The summits are taking place in the context that the bloc is determined to push up the building of the ASEAN Community and intensify its connectivity. It has recorded many important achievements and is also facing a number of challenges.

Over the recent past, Vietnam has taken an intensive, extensive and comprehensive part in the cooperation process and the common work of the bloc, making considerable contributions to the development and successes of the ASEAN.

Vietnam is participating in the current meetings in the spirit of continuing to bring into full play the positive achievements recorded in the recent past; contributing to the success of the summits, intensifying the solidarity and the central role of ASEAN; helping build a strong and closely knit ASEAN; consolidating an environment of peace, security, stability, cooperation and development in the region; and enhancing Vietnam’s role and position and boosting Vietnam’s bilateral relations with partners.

On October 9, Prime Minister Dung will attend the 23rd ASEAN summit and a number of related summits, and meet leaders of a number of the countries participating in the events.-VNA
