Promoting communication activities on land border control

Communication activities play an important role in the management and protection of the national land border, said Le Hai Binh, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Popularisation. ​

Hanoi (VNA) - Communication activities play an important role in themanagement and protection of the national land border, said Le Hai Binh, deputyhead of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education andPopularisation.

The Party official made the conclusion at a conferenceon communication work on land border affairs in 2022, which was held in bothin-person and online forms, on June 8 by the Commission for Education andPopularisation in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, Party committees of25 provinces along the Vietnam-China, Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia borderlines, and relevant agencies.

Binh, who is also standing deputy head of the steeringcommittee for external information work, urged Party committees and authoritiesof border provinces to build popularisation plans in association with politicaltasks. He said the forms of communication activities should be diversified tosuit the different groups of population in border areas, and the use of foreignand ethnic languages should be expanded in communication work.

The official called attention to training for peopleparticipating in popularisation work, especially those at grassroots level suchas village elderly, village heads, religious dignitaries and prestigious peoplein border communities.  

Border localities should work closely with neighbouringlocalities in China, Laos and Cambodia to enhance border management capacityand defeat attempts and plots of hostile forces that want to sabotage thefriendship between Vietnam and neighbouring countries as well as the regime ineach country, he said.

Delegates at the conference were updated on the recentdevelopment of the relations between Vietnam and Laos, China and Cambodia andorientations for cooperation between Vietnam and the three neighbouringcountries in the time ahead. They also listened to reports on the protectionand management of land border in the recent past as well as collaborationbetween Vietnam and the neighbouring countries in the field.  

Rapporteurs also recommended measures to continuemaking effective use of existing cooperative mechanisms and forms to buildpeaceful, friendly and stable borderlines on land with neighbouring countriesand timely handle arising problems related to the border and territory betweenVietnam and the neighbours./.
