Hanoi (VNA) – The image recognition of Hanoi among the global audience of the US’s Cable News Network (CNN) has improved, especially on social networks, according to CNN Senior Vice President for Asia-Pacific Sunita Rajan.

Rajan had a working session in Hanoi on December 5 with Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on the outcomes of the two sides’ cooperation and their plans moving forward.

Stressing the achievements in bilateral cooperation in the past two years, she voiced her hope to continue working with Vietnam, particularly in promoting major events like the Formula One (F1) race in 2020 and the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2021.

Appreciating the efficiency of bilateral collaboration, Chung said the image of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general has been introduced to CNN viewers across the world.

Through the programme, Hanoi has learnt from the network, particularly in analysing data for promotion programmes.

Hanoi will maintain cooperation with CNN, and hopes to receive its support in training communications officials of the Departments of Information and Communications, and Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as in sharing information about audience analysis to help the city devise an effective promotion plan, Chung added.

Rajan agreed with the city leader’s proposals and affirmed she would maintain support for the Vietnamese capital.

CNN is an American cable and satellite television channel available in more than 210 countries and territories.

This year, CNN broadcast three 30-second promotion clips focusing on Hanoi, namely “Hanoi – Heart of Vietnam”, “Hanoi – Cradle of Heritage” and “Hanoi – History, Culture and People”, along with a special programme titled “Destination Hanoi”.

As of the end of September 2018, Hanoi welcomed nearly 20 million tourists, including 4.45 million foreigners.

This year, the city hopes to serve more than 25.4 million holidaymakers, including 5.5 million foreigners and gross some 75.78 trillion VND (3.33 billion USD) in revenue.-VNA
