Hanoi (VNA) – The presidential office of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on February 22 convened a session to discuss preparations for the upcoming visit by senior officials of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) for the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, Chief presidential security advisor Chung Eui-yong presided over the session of the National Security Council (NSC), hours after the DPRK said it would a high-level delegation to attend the closing ceremony on February 25.

The NSC session was attended by Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, Defence Minister Song Young-moo, National Intelligence Service chief Suh Hoon and top presidential security aides.

The eight-member delegation, led by Kim Yong-chol, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and director of the United Front Department of the WPK Central Committee, will arrive in the RoK on February 25 for a three-day visit, according to the RoK's Unification Ministry.

RoK President Moon Jae-in is expected to meet with the delegation.-VNA
