Quang Binh: 520 scholarships presented to poor gifted students

Quang Binh (VNA) – As many as 520 scholarships, each worth 1million VND (43 USD), were presented to poor gifted students in the centralprovince of Quang Binh on October 10.

The granting ceremony in Dong Hoi city was jointly held by the military-runtelecommunications group Viettel’s branch in Quang Binh (Viettel Quang Binh),the provincial Study Encouragement Association, the Department of Education andTraining, and the Department of Information and Communications.  

This is the fifth year Viettel has joined the scholarship programme in QuangBinh province. The company has so far granted more than 3,000 scholarships to localpoor students with outstanding academic achievements.

Major Pham Thanh Nam, Director of Viettel Quang Binh, said joining theprogramme, the company wants to give more strength to poor students in order tohelp them overcome difficulties to continue pursuing their study.

Viettel pledges to spend at least 26 billion VND (1.1 million USD) each year onscholarships to poor gifted pupils, he said, hoping that many other benefactorswill join hands with the company in this effort.

Hailing Viettel Quang Binh’s contributions to the local socio-economicdevelopment over the past time, especially in education, Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tien Hoang said the company’s support hashelped disadvantaged students to pursue their schooling dreams towards a betterlife, thus contributing to nurturing talents for the province.-VNA

Thai Binh aims to eradicate substandard housing ahead of schedule

Thai Binh province has identified 2,106 eligible households—1,164 requiring new homes and 942 needing home repairs. Each new house receives 100 million VND in aid, while 50 million VND is provided for each repaired home. The total budget for the 2024-2025 period is 163.5 billion VND (6.4 million USD).

Vietnamese students honoured at Asahi scholarship graduation ceremony in Japan

Vietnamese students achieved remarkable successes, excelling in various categories. Seven out of 22 students passed the N1 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test - the highest level - while 16 out of 34 students received the special award.
