Quang Binh holds early elections in remote communes

As many as 7,380 voters in six communes of the central province of Quang Binh on May 19 cast their ballots to elect deputies to the 13 th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.
As many as 7,380 voters in six communes of the central province of Quang Binh on May 19 cast their ballots to elect deputies to the 13 th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.

The communes, namely Hoa Son, Dan Hoa, Trong Hoa, Thuong Hoa of Minh Hoa district, and Tan Trach and Thuong Trach of Bo Trach district, are located in remote and mountainous areas, and mainly inhabited by Bru and Van Kieu ethnic minority groups.

By 8:30 a.m of May 19, three days earlier than the day of elections nationwide, the communes of Tan Trach and Thuong Trach have accomplished the elections, while the four remaining communes are expected to complete the work by 4:00 p.m.

Phan Van Gon, Chairman of the People’s Committee and Head of the Election Council of Bo Trach district, shared his feeling: “This is actually a major festival as local people are all eager to go to polling stations to fulfill their rights and duties.

Thanks to the locality’s efforts in propaganda and preparations, the holding of early elections in Tan Trach and Thuong Trach were performed in a democratic, safe and economic manner and in line with law./.
