Quang Binh holds reburial service for remains of martyrs

The People’s Committee of Quang Binh held a memorial and reburial ceremony on May 9 for 18 set of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in battlefields in Laos during wartime.

Quang Binh(VNA) – The People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Binh held a memorialand reburial ceremony on May 9 for 18 set of remains of Vietnamese voluntarysoldiers and experts who laid down their lives in battlefields in Laos duringwartime.

The ceremony drewrepresentatives of the Special Working Committees of the Lao Government andKhammoane province, Laos’ Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, and leaders ofthe Military Zone 4 and Quang Binh province of Vietnam, among others.

The sets of remainswere searched and gathered by Team 589 under the Military Headquarters of QuangBinh province with the support from Khammoane province’s Labour and SocialWelfare Department and Military Headquarters and Lao people.

They were sent home inthe first repatriation of this year during the 2017-2018 dry season.

Participants at theceremony offered flowers and incense to the martyrs, showing gratitude to themartyrs who sacrificed their live for the liberation of Laos.

The remains wereburied in Ba Doc Martyrs’ Cemetery in Dong Hoi city of Quang Binh.

In May last year,Quang Binh also held a reburial ceremony for 26 sets of remains of Vietnamesesoldiers and experts who died in Laos. They were unearthed during the 2016-2017dry season.-VNA

Da Nang to replace 1,140 dilapidated houses by May 2025

The total budget for the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in Da Nang this year is estimated at 47.4 billion VND (1.85 billion USD). Of this, 30.3 billion VND will be sourced from the state budget, while the remainder from the for the poor fund and other fundraising efforts.

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.
