A 220 year old Thi (diospyros decandra) tree in the central province ofQuang Ngai has been recognised as a Heritage Tree, the first in theprovince.
The recognition was made by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment.
The 25-m tree stands at the site of the Le family’s ancestral temple inHanh Phuoc commune, Nghia Hanh district. According to Le familyrecords, it was planted by Le Phu Tri, a mandarin of the Tay Son Dynastywhen he chose the area to settle down after the victory of King QuangTrung over the Qing invaders.
The Le family temple is listed by the province as a provincial-level cultural and historic relic.-VNA
