Vietnam secures runner-up spot in SEA Games tally behind Thailand

Vietnamese competitors excelled in multiple disciplines on the second full day of competition at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese athletes delivered standout performances on December 11, securing a haul of medals that propelled the nation to second place in the tally with 14 golds, 8 silvers and 27 bronzes, trailing host Thailand but ahead of Indonesia.

Vietnamese competitors excelled in multiple disciplines on the second full day of competition at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

Host Thailand held firmly atop the tally with 41 golds, 24 silvers and 14 bronzes, while Indonesia ranked third with 13 golds, 20 silvers and 13 bronzes./.

Vietnamese sports delegation encouraged ahead of SEA Games 33

A total of 28 teams with 552 members have arrived in Thailand, with several squads, including the men’s and women’s football teams, baseball, handball and badminton, already beginning competition as scheduled. An additional 160 athletes, including key teams in athletics, swimming and archery, were due to join the delegation later the same day.
