Quang Ninh posts 10.66% economic growth for first half

The northern province of Quang Ninh posted an estimated growth rate of 10.66% in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first six months of this year, which is 2.64 percentage points higher than the rate in the same period of 2021.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northernprovince of Quang Ninh posted an estimated growth rate of 10.66% in GrossRegional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first six months of this year, which is2.64 percentage points higher than the rate in the same period of 2021.

In the period, the province has effectively implemented its overall strategy oncontaining COVID-19 and safely and flexibly adapting to the pandemic, thusfacilitating development in the new normal situation. 

Quang Ninh collectedover 27.18 trillion VND (1.17 billion USD at current exchange rate) for theState budget, an increase of 18% year-on-year.

Total socialinvestment in the period is estimated at 42.3 trillion VND, up 10.9% from thesame period last year.

The tourism industryof Quang Ninh has also enjoyed a stable recovery, serving 5.5 million visitorsin the six-month period, a 2.2-fold rise year-on-year. The figure also showed a19.57% increase compared to the best scenario.

Besides, the province successfully hosted the competitions of seven sportsduring the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), spreading theimage of a safe, modern and prosperous locality among international visitors.  

Quang Ninh is aimingfor a GRDP increase of at least 11% this year, and budget revenues of not lessthan 52.6 trillion VND. 

Towards this goal,Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky has laid emphasis ona spirit of solidarity, daring and innovation, and the transition from “brown”to “green” model of development.

He said the provincehas been working to renew the way of leadership, streamline theadministration’s apparatus, and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of theentire political system through administrative procedure reform in combinationwith comprehensive digital transformation, so as to unleash local potential andadvantages for development.

According to theofficial, Quang Ninh will accelerate the construction of strategicinfrastructure works while re-arranging development space and building newdevelopment corridors with a view to making use of new opportunities andresources.

At the same time,economic growth will go closely with cultural development, social affairs,environmental protection and social security, he said.  

Attention will be paidto harmonizing and combining urban and rural development, industry-constructionand tourism-service and agriculture, and to improving the quality of new-stylerural areas. 

Ky went on to say that Quang Ninh attaches importance to facilitating thedevelopment of enterprises and business households through helping removedifficulties and obstacles.

The province is also resolved to take drastic actions to attract moreinvestment. Priority will be given to drawing new-generation direct foreigninvestment (FDI) into processing, hi-tech manufacturing and clean industrialprojects located in designated economic zones and industrial parks.

In addition, QuangNinh will strive to further enhance the effectiveness of the management andexploitation of natural resources such as land, coal, minerals, as well as financialresources like the budget, public investment, public assets and socio-economicinfrastructure.

Efforts will also be accelerated to complete urgent infrastructure projectsthat can create new impetus for local development.

Quang Ninh is viewed as a strategic destination in northern Vietnam and an important link in the northern economic growth triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh.

It has set a goal to have modern industry and service sectors and become one of the region’s comprehensive and dynamic development hubs by 2025.

The province aims to increase its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) by 10% on an annual average during the period, and the per capita GRDP to over 10,000 USD by 2025. The urbanisation rate is expected to surpass 75%, while the rate of poor households to go down to below 1%.

Quang Ninh will also work to maintain its leading position nationwide concerning the provincial competitive index (PCI), public administration reform (PAR) index, Satisfaction Index of Public Administration Services (SIPAS), and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI)./.

Vietnam targets 4.5 billion USD in cashew exports for 2025

Figures from the first six months show cashew exports reached 346,800 tonnes, earning 2.36 billion USD, a drop of 2.7% in volume but a surge of 20.4% in value annually. The rise was largely attributed to a significant increase in export prices, which helped offset lower shipment volumes.
