Quang Tri province greenlights three wind power projects

The People’s Committee of centralQuang Tri province has approved in principle three wind power projects with acombined investment capital of nearly 5 trillion VND (215.6 million USD),online newspaper baodautu.vn reported.

The Phong Lieu wind power plant will cover 16.5ha in fourcommunes of Huong Linh, Tan Thanh, Huong Tan and Huong Phung. Financed by theprovince-based Phong Lieu Wind Power JSC, the first plant costs more than 1.5trillion VND. It is slated for completion in 2021, providing 151 million kWh ofelectricity.

Another plant, invested by the Phong Nguyen Wind Power JSC inthe central city of Da Nang, will span more than 16ha in two communes of Tan Thanhand Huong Phung. The plant, worth 1.6 trillion VND, is expected to beoperational in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Phong Huy wind power plant costs more than 1.6trillion VND. Spanning 16ha in Tan Thanh and Huong Tan communes, the plant willprovide 151 million kWh of electricity once operational in 2021.

The provincial People’s Committee asked the investors toimplement their projects on time, while complying with regulations related toinvestment, land, taxes, construction and environmental protection. 

Quang Tri has a great potential for wind energy and theprovince has been reforming administrative procedures and improving theinvestment environment to attract more investors to renewable energy projectsin the locality.

It plans to become an energy hub for the central region. Asof June, the province was home to 58 wind power projects./.
