Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,069 VND per USD on May 20, up 15 VND from the last working day of previous week (May 17).
With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied by commercial banks for the day is 23,761 VND/USD and the floor rate is 22,376 VND/USD.
The opening hour rates at commercial banks saw strong rises.
At 8:15 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 23,330 VND per USD and the selling rate at 23,450 VND/USD, both up 85 VND from the same time of May 17.
BIDV also raised both rates by 80 VND to 23,330 VND/USD (buying) and 23,450 VND/USD (selling).
Techcombank added 85 VND to the buying rate to 23,310 VND/USD and increased the selling rate by 80 VND to 23,450 VND/USD.
Last week (from May 13 to 17), the daily reference exchange rate was adjusted up on two days and down on three days, but overall the rate ended the week 7 VND higher than that at the beginning of the week.-VNA
