Regional council looks at vital water security

The Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (CSCAP) convened the second session of its research group on Water Resources Security in Phnom Penh , Cambodia on July 18.

The meetingevaluated the current use and management of water resources of relatednations as well as reviewed international legal issues and the role ofinternational institutions relating to water resource management anduse.

Host representative Prince Norodom Sirivutdh spoke highly ofthe initiative to set up the research group on Water Resources Securityand the success of the first session in Hanoi last March.

Atthe meeting, participants stressed the importance of the mechanism oncooperation and partnerships on sustainable development of waterresource security.

They agreed upon the importance ofcooperating and sharing information in the region and made suggestionson the structure of cooperative institutions, sharing and strengtheninginternational and regional regulations, along with contributions fromthe private sector, as well as mechanisms to prevent conflicts on waterresources./.

Ca Mau approves investment policy for waste-to-energy plant

The waste-to-energy plant is planned for construction in Dat Moi commune, covering a total area of about 20 hectares. It will have a waste treatment capacity of approximately 600 tonnes of household waste per day and a power generation capacity of 6MW.
