The northern province of Uthai Thani and the local Chaipattana Foundation have held workshops on modern rice-planting techniques, which saw a huge turnout from local agriculturalists.
The August 24 event was chaired by Uthai Thani Governor Somchai Lertpongpakorn, who personally took part in a rice-planting demonstration at the foundation's rice paddy in Huai Khot district.
One of the techniques highlighted in the workshop was a ratio guideline for agricultural land use. The guideline allocates four rai to plant rice, two rai to plant fruits, two rai for water storage, and one rai for the farmer's residence.
Aside from various rice planting methods, the program also organizes other agricultural enhancement activities, such as releasing frogs and fishes to rice fields and canals. The workshop was free of charge and aimed to reduce the cost of rice cultivation. The programme is well-received by the public.-VNA
