Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese rowers Ta Thanh Huyen and Ho Thi Ly finished third at the semifinals C/D of the Rowing Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls on August 11 after the event was one day delayed due to strong wind.

With a time of 8min 18sec 47, the duo passed through to the final C/D on August 12.

In the badminton men’s single group E, Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam defeated 2-1 the former Russian national champion, Vladimir Malkov.

Malkov won the first game 21-15 but then Minh stormed back and beat Malkov solidly in game two and three, 21-9 and 21-13, respectively.

Minh will meet David Obernostere from Austria on August 12.

After day six at the Rio Olympics, the Vietnamese team ranked 24th with one gold and one silver claimed by shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh.

The US delegation maintained its domination at the event with 16 golds, 12 silvers, and 10 bronzes, followed by China and Japan.-VNA

Moscow to host Vietnam Culture Festival for first time

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–Israel cultural ties

The show took place at the Grand Hall of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
