The Republic of Korea ’s Booyoung construction company will provide 3,000 digital pianos to Vietnamese primary schools.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed between the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien and the company’s President Lee Joong Keun in Hanoi on August 20.

RoK ambassador to Vietnam Im Hong Jae and representatives of Vietnamese ministries and departments attended the event.

Addressing the signing ceremony, the Vietnamese Deputy Minister said, since it first began operation in Vietnam in November 2006, Booyoung company has created numerous activities to help develop the country’s primary education system.

In 2006, the RoK company presented 6,000 anti-dazzle boards worth 300,000 USD to primary schools in Ha Tay (now Hanoi ) and donated 10 million USD to the Ministry of Education and Training.

The sum was used to buy 210,000 similar boards for primary schools nationwide to contribute to improving the comprehensive educational quality and protecting primary students’ health.

Booyoung company funded the construction of the Phan Chau Chinh Junior Secondary School in central Quang Nam province and three other primary schools in the central provinces of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa.

It also awarded scholarships for students of Korean language in a number of schools, financed the Vietnam Children’s Fund and the Vietnam Taekwondo Association and provided about two million USD for the construction of the Ha Dong bus station in Hanoi./.
