The RoK's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon (L) meets with Deputy Prime Minister Ri Ryong-nam of the DPRK in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 18 (Source: AP/Yonhap) Seoul (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon met with Deputy Prime Minister Ri Ryong-nam of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Jakarta on August 18 just before the opening ceremony of the Asian Games 2018.
Lee and Ri had a trilateral meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, the Yonhap News Agency reported.
The meeting also saw the attendance of RoK Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doo Jong-hwan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lim Sung-nam and RoK Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Chang-beom.
Meanwhile, the DPRK side also had the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Hee-cheol, head of the Asian affairs department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lee Ho-cheol, and DPRK Ambassador to Indonesia Ahn Gwang-il.
The RoK and DPRK delegations marched together behind the Korean Unification Flag at the ASIAD opening ceremony in Jakarta later on the day.
The two nations are scheduled to field joint teams in three sports - women's basketball, rowing and canoeing - in a sign of warming relations.
RoK President Moon Jae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un are set to meet again in Pyongyang next month following their first summit in April.-VNA
