RoK, DPRK officials meet in Indonesia

Seoul (VNA) – TheRepublic of Korea (RoK)’s Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon met with Deputy PrimeMinister Ri Ryong-nam of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Jakartaon August 18 just before the opening ceremony of the Asian Games 2018. 

Lee and Ri had atrilateral meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, the Yonhap NewsAgency reported.

The meeting also saw theattendance of RoK Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doo Jong-hwan, DeputyMinister of Foreign Affairs Lim Sung-nam and RoK Ambassador to Indonesia KimChang-beom.

Meanwhile, the DPRK sidealso had the presence of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Hee-cheol,head of the Asian affairs department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs LeeHo-cheol, and DPRK Ambassador to Indonesia Ahn Gwang-il.

The RoK and DPRKdelegations marched together behind the Korean Unification Flag at the ASIADopening ceremony in Jakarta later on the day. 

The two nations are scheduled to field joint teams in three sports - women'sbasketball, rowing and canoeing - in a sign of warming relations. 

RoK President MoonJae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un are set to meet again in Pyongyang nextmonth following their first summit in April.-VNA
