Romania has conferred former Vietnamese Ambassador to Romania Nguyen Quang Chien with the Grand Cross of the Order for Merit in recognition for his contribution to developing Romanian-Vietnamese relations.
The Charge d’Affaires of Romania to Vietnam Valeriu Arteni presented the order to the diplomat at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 11.
The order is the noblest award that the Romanian President can give to a foreign ambassador.
Vietnam has topped the list of Romania’s partners in ASEAN nations during Chien’s term, said Valeriu Arteni. Economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Romania saw remarkable progress during his tem, which lasted from 2009 to 2012.
Two-way trade value had increased to over 100 million USD since 2010, making Romania a large export market for Vietnamese aquatic products.-VNA
