Run aims for world harmony in Hanoi

The World Harmony Run-Vietnam 2012 opened in Hanoi on November 5, sending a message of peace to international friends.

The event is co-organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the World Harmony Run (WHR) organisation.

Addressing the function, VUFO Vu Xuan Hong spoke highly of the WHR’s efforts in transmitting the message of peace to people throughout the world, saying that peace is always an aspiration of humankind and a fundamental and prerequisite condition for prosperity and people’s happiness.

On the occasion, the WHR Regional Director for Asia presented the World Harmony Dreamer Award to the VUFO President.

After a torch-lighting ceremony, Vietnamese and international delegates ran with the torch to the Hanoi-based Chu Van An Secondary School and met with teachers and students there.

The WHR delegation is scheduled to visit an orphanage and some cultural attractions in the northern province of Quang Ninh between November 5-8.-VNA

Hanoi court cuts sentences in ‘rescue flight’ bribery case
