In late 2014 and early 2015, thenumber of Russian tourists to Phu Quoc Island plummeted due to economicdifficulties in Russia.
Jointly organised by the Pegas TouristCompany of Turkey and the Anh Duong Tourist Company in Ho Chi MinhCity, the direct service from Russia to Phu Quoc Island, starting inmid-February, 2014 ran as often as 2 or 3 times weekly during the highseason.
Phu Quoc welcomed 586,000 tourists arrivals in 2014, including over 124,500 foreigners.
As many as 250,000 Russians visited Vietnam in 2013, a 71 percentincrease from 2012, reported the Vietnam National Administration ofTourism.
