Russia ratifies labour migration agreement with Vietnam

The Russian Federation Council (the Upper House of Parliament) approved the inter-governmental agreement on temporary labour migration between Russia and Vietnam on October 30.
The Russian Federation Council (the Upper House of Parliament)approved the inter-governmental agreement on temporary labourmigration between Russia and Vietnam on October 30.

Signed by the two governments in Moscow on October 27, 2008 , theagreement aims at establishing an international legal framework toregulate the temporary employment of Russian citizens on Vietnameseterritory and Vietnamese workers in Russia .

Especially, the document specifies procedures and regulations on labourimmigration, social issues, healthcare services, tax, immigration andtravelling by citizens of the two countries.

Thepaper also underlined the migrant workers’ legal status, ensuring theirrights and freedom, legal protection and private safety as foreigncitizens in line with the host country’s law.

TheForeign Affairs Committee under the council emphasisedthat the ratification of the agreement is in Russia ’s interest andhelps create an effective management system of immigrant workers as wellas promote the bilateral cooperation between Russia and Vietnam .

Earlier, the Russian State Duma also ratified the agreement on October 18.-VNA

FLC appeal hearing postponed, giving more time for compensation
