The Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund spent nearly 4 billion VND to poor and well performing ethnic pupils and students nationwide in the first six months of this year.
The fund fulfilled its plan to provide 5,000 scholarships this year, said a meeting of the fund managing board convened on Aug. 1 to discuss activities for remaining months of 2009.
In the second half of this year, the fund will have its plan of providing 5,000 scholarships and helmets in the next year, work with the Kim Dong and Thanh Nien publishing houses to present books to the Vu A Dinh memorial house, discuss with Unilever Vietnam Group on a project on clean water to needy mountainous and ethnic schools.
At the meeting, Truong My Hoa, Fund President, presented the Cuban embassy’s representatives with 100 scholarships worth 5,000 USD to Cuban students.
The Fund also handed over the Foreign Ministry's representative another 100 scholarships worth 5,000 USD to overseas Vietnamese students in Laos./.
