Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense and Chairman of the National Committee for Organising the 32nd SEA Games 2023 (CAMSOC) to examine the possibility of administering the fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose to athletes with Pfizer vaccine.

The Ministry of Defence’s medical corps has been administering the third or booster dose to all athletes since August last year.

The Cambodian Health Ministry reported additional 18 imported infections related to the new variant Omicron on January 6, bringing the total Omicron cases in the country to 112.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Government has temporarily banned the entry of foreign nationals from 14 countries in a bid to prevent the spread of the variant.

Indonesian citizens who travel from abroad are allowed to enter Indonesian territory by following strict health protocols set by the Government.

Indonesian citizens and foreigners who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 abroad, will be inoculated at a quarantine site after arriving in Indonesia. They are required to undergo a PCR test.

Also on January 6, the Thai Health Ministry raised its COVID-19 alert level from level 3 to 4 following rising infections driven by the spread of Omicron.

As of the morning the same day, Thailand recorded a total of 2,245,250 infection cases, 2,185,502 of them fully recovered and 21,780 died from the disease./.
