SEA Games 29: Vietnam moves to second place on fourth day

Vietnam advanced to second place in the medal tally of the ongoing 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia at the end of August 23, the fourth official competition day.

KualaLumpur (VNA) – Vietnam advanced to second place in the medal tally of the ongoing 29thSoutheast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia at the end of August 23, the fourth officialcompetition day.

Thespot was earned after Vietnam won 12 gold medals during the day, twice theexpected figure.

Thegold medals were in gymnastics, fencing, karate and athletics, bringing itstotal gold to 28. The country also pocketed a total 20 silver and 23 bronzemedals.

Thesame day, Vietnam women’s and men’s volleyball teams both secured their winagainst host Malaysia and Timor Leste, respectively.

Malaysiaremained on top of the tally with 50 gold, 37 silver and 32 bronze medals.

Cambodiawas at the bottom of the list with 5 bronze medals, while Timor Leste was yetto seize any medal.

Vietnamsent more than 470 athletes to compete at the Games from August 19-30. They arescheduled to take part in 32 out of 38 sports and set to bring home 49-59 goldmedals to rank in the top three.-VNA

Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. Vietnam's 35-strong squad announced for ASEAN U23 Championship 2025

The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

Vinh Phuc to host international women's volleyball tournament
