Ninh Binh (VNA) – The People’s Committee of Nho Quan district of northern Ninh Binh province on May 3 announced that it has been free of African swine fever (ASF), becoming the second district of Ninh Binh to get rid of the virus.
With the announcement, transporting and trading activities of pork and pork products will be resumed as normal.
The last ASF-infected farm was detected at a household in Van Phong commune of Nho Quan on April 1. All the 23 pigs of the farm were then culled. Three animal quarantine posts were set up in major roads of the commune to control pork transporting activities.
Meanwhile, the district authorities directed Van Phong commune to guide local households to apply measures to detoxify their farms and supervise the epidemic’s development for timely response.
The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development provided local households with 3,000 litres of chemicals for farm cleaning, along with equipment for the epidemic prevention and control. Households with culled pigs also received financial support.
As many as seven out of the eight districts of Ninh Binh suffered from the ASF.-VNA
