Seized pythons released back into jungle

Three wild python moluruses that were seized in May by the Forest Protection Department province in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong were released into the jungle on July 4, local authorities announced.

The pythons, which weighed a total of 37kilogrammes, were found hidden in three bags during a raid in a localguest house in the province’s Lam Ha district.

Theowner has been identified as 45-year-old Le Van Dan from central ThanhHoa province. He failed to produce any documents declaring the animals’origin.

Python moluruses, a non-venomous type of python, are a rare and endangered species that need to be protected.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.

Hundreds of trees planted in Cuc Phuong National Park as part of Forestival
