Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Party Central Committee’s Theoretical Council and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences held a scientific seminar in Hanoi on March 29 discussing the world situation during 2011-2020, forecasts until 2030, impacts on Vietnam, and policy recommendations.
The event attracted leading experts and scientists in the fields of economy, politics, external relations, and national defence-security from various ministries, agencies, and research institutes.
Speaking at the event, deputy chairman of the council Prof. Dr. Vu Van Hien said the global situation forecasts and analysis of domestic affairs will lay important foundations for the Party to issue sound and timely policies and resolutions, thus improving Vietnam’s stature on the international arena.
Participants looked into global political, military, and security affairs during the 2011-2020 period; strategic competition among major countries and the transition of key power centres; and risks of tension, cold war, and arms race.
Issues regarding the world economy and trade, global economic integration and governance, restructuring of major economies, the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the digital era, and opportunities and challenges were tabled.
They also gave global forecasts up until 2030 with a vision to the mid-21st century regarding international politics and security; the Asia-Pacific, regional, and internal ASEAN situation; and the East Sea issue.
Delegates theorised on the advantageous and disadvantageous world impacts on Vietnam in the coming decades, which served as a reference to issue proper policies and measures that will be set in the draft document to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress.–VNA
