A festival was held in late President Ho Chi Minh’s home village of Sen, in Kim Lien commune in the central province of Nghe An, on May 17 to mark his 122 nd birthday on May 19.

The festival has been held annually since 1981 so people from all walks of life can show their love and respect for President Ho Chi Minh.

The two-day event includes numerous activities, including offering incense to commemorate Uncle Ho and a traditional music festival.

Earlier, a ceremony to review Nghe An province’s recent achievements also took place. The rate of recorded poor households in the province has dropped to 16 percent and the annual average income now exceeds 700 USD.

Developments can also be seen in vocational training, job creation, healthcare services and poverty reduction, so the standard of living for many people has greatly improved.

Nam Dan district, in particular, was chosen as one of the five districts in the country to implement the national targets programme to create new, more modern rural lifestyles.-VNA
