Shinsegae Corporation, the parent firm of Emart hypermarket system, soon to be opened in Vietnam, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Vietnam Children's Protection Fund to establish the first Hope Toy Library in HCM City.
According to the MoU, the construction, operation and maintenance cost will be 3 billion VND (142,857 USD).
The library aims to contribute to educational improvement for children.
The Hope Toy Library project will be implemented in all countries where the Emart retailer system is present.
Kim Kun Sun, Deputy General Director of Shinsegae Corporation, said the model of toy library is not new, but always necessary to equip children with basic knowledge and skills for their future life, and in advance enable them to have a happy childhood.
Operating for nine years in the Republic of Korea with 36 libraries established from 2007, the Hope Toy Library project in Vietnam is the first community activity abroad of the Shinsegae Corporation.
In the Republic of Korea, this is one of community activities that Shinsegae collaborated with Korea's Green Umbrella Children Foundation to work on, with the model of a free playground for children in difficult living conditions and low-income families.-VNA
