
Hanoi (VNA) – Ship 015-TranHung Dao of the Vietnam People’s Navy arrived at Yokosuka naval base in Japan’sKanagawa prefecture on September 27, Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper reported.
The delegation, led by Colonel LeHong Chien, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4, visited the mayor of Yokosukacity, the commander of Yokosuka base, commander of the coast guard force inYokosuka and the city’s police chief.
Colonel Le Hong Chien said the visitreflects the foreign policies of the Party and State of Vietnam in militaryaffairs and defence, thus consolidating friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
The visit is also part of implementing agreements ofthe countries’ senior officials on the 45th founding anniversary of diplomaticties and the joint vision statement on Vietnam-Japan defence relations towardsthe next decade.
Officials of Yokosuka city voicedtheir hope that the activities of the Vietnam Navy’s delegation will improve cooperationbetween the countries’ armies and navies, contributing to building territorialwaters of peace, friendship and cooperation.
During the visit, the Vietnamesedelegation will play futsal and volleyball games with members of the Yokosukabase. Both sides will visit each other’s ships and attend a reception together.
The 015-Tran Hung Dao ship is set tovisit Sakai port of Osaka prefecture afterward.-VNA
