Hanoi (VNA) – Singaporean businesses want to cooperate with their Vietnamese counterparts in digital technology to serve industrial development in each country, said President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation Douglas Foo.
At a working session with Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung in Hanoi on October 17, Douglas Foo said Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong suggested using digital technology to connect ASEAN member economies.
He said 2017 marks the development of Singapore’s industry, adding that e-commerce and digital economy will be the country’s priorities in 2018 when it assumes the rotating ASEAN Chair.
Therefore, Singapore wishes to pour more investments in nations in Southeast Asia and the world at large, including Vietnam, he said.
For his part, Chung emphasised that Vietnam in general and its capital city of Hanoi in particular want to cooperate with Singapore in industrial development.
Hanoi has made first steps in technological development, digitalisation of data in the management of land, offices, businesses, public services and corporate tax declaration, he said.
The official expressed his hope that with economic potential and advantages in land and human resources, Hanoi will be a suitable destination for Singaporean investors in the future, and that Singapore’s projects will gain successes in Vietnam. -VNA
