More than 30 students from Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic University volunteered in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue during their 15-day visit to Vietnam.

The volunteers built a brick fence and gate at Nursery School No.2 in Quang Dien district. They also joined the children at Quang Cong commune’s nursery school to draw pictures, play games, and sing English songs.

At the same time, the Singaporean students helped doctors at the Eye Hospital in Hue City provide free check-ups and glasses for 1,400 children and members of low-income households.

The efforts further enhanced the relationship between Singapore and Thua Thien-Hue. In recent years, Singapore has actively boosted its collaboration with the province.

The Singaporean Cooperation Enterprise recently embarked on a fact-finding tour to the province in preparation of a cooperation agreement on investments in Thua Thien-Hue, especially in tourism and heritage preservation.

Singapore is also helping the province make a plan for its tourism sector for the 2013-2025 period.-VNA
