HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union ofFriendship Organisations (HUFO) on August 7 held a get-together to celebratethe 54th anniversary of Singapore’s National Day (August 9).

Addressing the event, Vice President of the Vietnam-SingaporeFriendship Association (VSFA) in Ho Chi Minh City Dinh Khac Duy stressedVietnam and Singapore share a long-standing relationship, multi-dimensionallink and close cooperation across fields.

He highlighted that the relations have been making strongprogress in politics, economy, culture, education, and people-to-people diplomacy.

Duy said based on such foundation and determination forfurther ties growth from the two countries’ leaders and peoples, theVietnam–Singapore comprehensive partnership, including the connection betweenHCM City and the island nation, will be enhanced, particularly in culture,sports, tourism, education, and people-to-people exchange.

Roy Kho, Singapore’s Consul General in HCM City, stated thathis country considers Vietnam as a close partner and friend and wants to propelthe relations forward.

Appreciating support from the municipal VSFA and localpeople toward Singapore, the diplomat pledged to foster the ties between thesides, thus pushing the Vietnam–Singapore partnership to new heights.

As of June, Singapore was Vietnam’s third biggest foreigninvestor with nearly 2,300 projects valued at 49.1 billion USD. It also heldthe first place among the 106 countries and territories investing in HCM Citywith 1,100 projects worth 10.8 billion USD.-VNA

Vietnam, Cambodia sign defence cooperation plan for 2027

Giang called on agencies and units of the two defence ministries to implement agreed cooperation programmes, focusing on political and ideological education to strengthen political trust, and cooperation between military services and arms. The two sides should step up coordination in border management and protection to build a Vietnam-Cambodia border of peace, cooperation and development.

Deputy PM visits China’s Tsinghua University, seeking closer educational cooperation

Tsinghua has worked to implement the Vietnamese and Chinese leaders’ orientations for higher education cooperation.
