Slovak National Council Speaker Pavol Paska and his entourage left the central coastal city of Nha Trang on January 30 to successfully wrap up their official friendly visit to Vietnam.

During his stay from Jan. 26-30, the Slovak Speaker involved in a wide range of activities, including talks with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, visits to State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Kiem.

At these events, the Slovak and Vietnamese leaders all asserted that the two countries have attached importance to boosting their multi-dimensional cooperation.

They reached a consensus on the enhancement of cooperation, the sharing of experiences from the law-building and supervision work and making preparations for the early signing of a cooperative document between the two legislative bodies to lay down a legal foundation for promoting their ties.

Regarding bilateral ties, the Slovak and Vietnamese leaders agreed to further mutually beneficial cooperative ties to tap each country’s potential and advantages.

They pledged to create favourable conditions for their goods to enter each other’s market as well as the ASEAN market and the EU market.

The officials agreed to soon establish an inter-governmental cooperation committee to boost bilateral cooperation as well as increase coordination and mutual assistance at multilateral forums./.
