Soc Trang (VNA) – Leaders of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang had a working session on November 12 with a delegation from the Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts (MCFA) headed by Secretary of State Menh Kossony.

During the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lam Van Man briefed the guests about the province’s socio-economic and cultural condition.

Man also highlighted the improvement in the spiritual life of local Khmer ethnic minority as a result of the revival of various traditional festivals such as Ngo Ok Om Bok, Sene Dolta, Chol Chnam Thmay, Lakhon Bassac and the preservation of Khmer arts.

For her part, Menh Kossony spoke highly of the solidarity of local ethnic groups including Kinh, Khmer and Chinese. She thanked the Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) for creating favourable conditions for the Cambodian Culture Week to be held in Ho Chi Minh City and Soc Trang. 

The week is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang from November 8 to 14, aiming to introduce unique and traditional Cambodian arts in a view to strengthen the solidarity and traditional friendship between the two countries.-VNA
