Presided over by NA Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the event heard the opinions of 40 deputies from 38 cities and provinces nationwide.

Lawmakers focused their discussions on the shortcomings and weaknesses of the economy last year, this year’s socio-economic performance and State budget, the Government’s financial and monetary policies, bad debts, inventories, the property and gold market, and solutions to assist ailing businesses.

Policies to develop agriculture, forestry, marine-based economies, quality of education and training, plus programmes on building new-style rural areas were also scrutinised.

On top of these, they discussed hospital overcrowding, quality of medical check-ups and treatment in State hospitals, labour, employment, traffic accident, market management, food hygiene, national target programmes, administrative reforms, renewal of State apparatus, quality of legal documents, settlement of complaints and denunciations, and the implementation of the general economic restructuring scheme.

Cabinet members also answered a number of legislators’ queries.

On May 31, deputies will discuss the draft Law on Conciliation at the Grassroots Level, the draft Law on Reception of Citizens and the Law on Plant Protection and Quarantine.-VNA
