The 113-year-old Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has been crowned the best hotel in Southeast Asia by Conde Nast Traveller, one of the world’s most luxury and lifestyle travel publishers.
The hotel leaped frog from last year’s fifth spot to the top of the 27th annual Readers’ Choice Awards list, which also named other four hotels and resorts in Vietnam.
As a fixture in the heart of Hanoi, this hotel, five minutes’ walk from the Opera House, has played host to numerous luminaries, from playwrights, ambassadors, and to heads of state.
Divided into two wings, the historic Metropole side blends classic French and Vietnamese styles while the contemporary Opera wing displays neoclassical influences.
“Dine on French fare at Le Beaulieu, sip a cocktail at the poolside Bamboo Bar, or head to Le Club for a chocolate buffet and jazz performances. Everyone goes above and beyond to make you feel special," the website said.
Meanwhile, La Residence Hotel & Spa in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has cracked the list for the first time, coming in the 19th place, ahead of Park Hyatt Saigon that holds the 21st spot.
The Nam Hai in the central province of Quang Nam is among the top 10 resorts in Asia for the second time, behind Hyatt Regency Da Nang that ranks sixth.-VNA
