Hai Phong (VNA) - During the four-day National Day holiday (from August 31 to September 3), the northern port city of Hai Phong welcomed more than 580,000 visitors, reported the municipal Department of Tourism.
Accordingly, more than 310,000 visitors were from other localities, a 24% rise compared to the same period in 2023.
Of the total, domestic tourists reached 286,000, an 18% increase year on year, while international arrivals numbered 24,000. The average room occupancy during the reviewed period was estimated at 75-80%, with peak days on August 31 and September 1 seeing occupancy rates of 90-100% in Do Son and Cat Ba Island, two tourist magnets.
Do Son continued to be the most popular destination, attracting nearly 300,000 visitors, particularly to the Dragon Hill International Tourist Area and local beaches.
Cat Ba Island also drew significant crowds, with over 50,000 tourists coming to beaches such as Cat Co 1, Cat Co 2, Cat Co 3, and Tung Thu, along with Lan Ha Bay. Many visitors enjoyed overnight stays and various leisure activities on this bay.
During the period, the Dong Bai-Cai Vieng ferry terminal deployed five large ferries, including three 200-tonne vessels and two 100-tonne ones, operating continuously to minimise congestion and ensure smooth transportation.
During the holiday, tourism activities remained stable and safe. Local businesses, including restaurants and lodging facilities, were well-prepared, ensuring quality services with ample food supplies and staff. Strict pricing regulations were enforced while enhanced safety measures on beaches ensured no accidents occurred during the holiday, according to the Tourism Department./.
