Son La (VNA) – The Red Cross Society of the northernmountainous province of Son La visited and presented gifts to border guards atChieng Khuong border gate in Song Ma district of Vietnam and border guard station 212 in theLao province of Houaphanh.

The gifts include 4,500 face masks, drinking water, instant noodlesand other necessities.

Vice Commander of Company 212 Major Xaiphone Phengthongdy thankedthe Vietnamese side for the gifts and wished to receive further support in the nearfuture.

Chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross Society Cam Thi Chuyen hoped that the Vietnamese and Lao border guards would stay united to overcomechallenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vice Political Commissar of the provincial border guard Col. Vu Duc Tusaid the activity will contribute to fostering solidarity and friendshipbetween the two nations./.

AIC case in Ca Mau: Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan sentenced to 10 years in prison

The People's Court of Ca Mau province on August 12 sentenced former Chairwoman and General Director of the Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan to ten years in prison for "violating bidding regulations, causing serious consequences" in a case involving the inflation of equipment prices for environmental monitoring stations in the former Bac Lieu province (now Ca Mau province).

Australia has become one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing long-haul tourism markets. Vietnam welcomed 490,880 Australian visitors in 2024, up 26% year on year and around 28% higher than in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
