South African Ambassador honoured with friendship insignia

The out-going Ambassador of South Africa to Vietnam Kgomotso Ruth Magau has been honoured with the “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” insignia of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) at the end of her term in Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) – Theout-going Ambassador of South Africa to Vietnam Kgomotso Ruth Magau has been honouredwith the “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” insignia of the Vietnam Unionof Friendship Organisations (VUFO) at the end of her term in Vietnam.

Presenting the insignia to theambassador at a ceremony in Hanoi on December 1, VUFO’s Vice President andGeneral Secretary Don Tuan Phong said the award aims to acknowledge thediplomat’s contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the peopleof Vietnam and South Africa as well as other African countries.

Kgomotso Ruth Magau has workedclosely with the VUFO and the Vietnam-Africa Friendship Assocation inpeople-to-people exchange activities such as the Africa Day and celebrations ofthe anniversary of the Southern African Development Community. The Ambassadoralso enthusiastically participated in events held by the VUFO.

Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau saidshe was honoured to receive the insignia, the highest decoration of VUFO.

She expressed the hope that tiesbetween the two countries will continue to expand, and pledged to do her bestin any position to contribute to bilateral ties.-VNA
